Housing Development Programs

Let Us Introduce you to our programs!

Single Family Rehabilitation

The Single Family Rehabilitation program uses grant and low interest loan funds to repair homes in Carbon, Emery, Grand, and San Juan Counties. The program focuses on health and safety repairs such as replacing heating systems, knob and tube mitigation, roofing, hot water heater replacement, sewer/water line and septic clean-out, window replacement and disability adaptation (e.g. ADA equipment). Funds are limited and are approved on a case-by-case basis. Cosmetic repairs, such as landscaping, decorating, kitchen/bath updating, and appliances are not eligible.

Mutual Self-Help Program

Mutual Self-Help Housing involves participants constructing their own homes as a group. This program is based on the barn-raising traditions of early rural Americans. The Self-Help Program has participants working in a group to build each other's homes in succession. Participants qualified for mortgage financing to purchase land, building materials, and subcontracted work for technical aspects. They are qualified at the low to very-low income guidelines from HUD. The program also allows for two additional home repair methods (owner-occupied and acquisition rehab).
